24 Weeks.

What is going on?

"Your baby's growing steadily, gaining about a quarter of a pound since last week, when he was just over a pound. Since he's almost a foot long, that makes a pretty lean figure, but his body is filling out proportionally and he'll soon put on more baby fat. Your baby's skin is thin, translucent, and wrinkled, his brain is growing rapidly, and his taste buds are developing. His lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" and cells that produce surfactant, a substance that helps the air sacs inflate easily."

23 Weeks!

What is going on...

"Your baby is more than 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound. His skin is red and wrinkled. Blood vessels in his lungs are developing to prepare him for breathing. He can swallow, but he normally won't pass his first stool (called meconium) until after birth. Loud noises heard often in utero — such as your dog barking or the roar of a vacuum cleaner — probably won't faze your baby when he hears them outside the womb."

I went to my new OB- I swithced at the chance that I will still be living here when the baby is born. My other OB is too far away, and I really did not like him all that much. I really like my new Dr. She is great! Everything looks good. I asked her if it was normal that I look like I am going to have a baby in August rather than October, and she laughed. She said I was fine. I told her I can already see him moving in my belly, and that should not be happening, right? She said I was fine. I guess I don't have much room for him to grow, so he is just growing out and out! He is still quite an active one!!!

I love that he can hear! Maybe I should vacuum some more so he is not scared of the vacuum cleaner :-)

Patty Griffin

I went out for a girl's night on Sunday night. We went to the Patty Griffin concert at the Ft. Worth Botanical Gardens, and it was awesome!!!! She is so cool! I went with some girls from work and we met up with Brook and some girls in her small group. We had a picnic dinner, and just relaxed. I was a bit warm, as it was pretty hot out, but it was still so much fun. I am, however, covered in mesquito bites. I even had on bug spray, but they really like me. Stinky bugs!

Here are some pics from the evening...

Michael's Yucky Weekend

Michael woke up Friday morning with some pain in his back. He thought he slept on it wrong or something, but it became worse throughout the day. We went out to dinner Friday night and Michael was in a lot of pain trying to eat. Swallowing sent shooting pains between his shoulder blades into his chest. We went to the ER- small independent one. They did an EKG, took x-rays, and did a cat scan. They could not find anything wrong. The Dr. thought maybe it was GI related and gave him some medicine for that and a pain killer. I got a taste of what my husband would be like drunk- not a pretty sight. Saturday morning he woke up and could hardly move. We went back to the ER- a real one this time in a hospital. They ran tons of tests, and they could not find anything wrong either. Michael was in a lot of pain, so they gave him a muscle relaxer and some pain killers. He spent the rest of the weekend on the couch, which if you know Michael, you know that he had a hard time with that. I think he watched enough tv to last him a year. He is feeling better now, but still has some pain. He is suppose to follow up later this week if he is not better. Some people have said that it sounds like a gall bladder problem, so if the pain continues he will go in to get that checked out later this week. Please pray for him.

22 Weeks as of Sunday May 10

"Your baby now looks like a miniature newborn, checking in at 10.9 inches and almost 1 pound. His skin will continue to appear wrinkled until he gains enough weight to fill it out, and the fine hair (lanugo) that covers his head and body is now visible. His lips are becoming more distinct, and the first signs of teeth are appearing as buds beneath her gum line. His eyes are developed, though the iris (the colored part of the eye) still lacks pigment. Eyelids and eyebrows are in place, and his pancreas, essential for hormone production, is developing steadily."

He is an active baby! I feel him kick, hit, move all the time! It is so amazing! It still catches me a little off gaurd every time it happens. It feels like this little pulse inside. I can even see my stomach move when he is kicking me! It is precious! I love it! I am a little, well a lot, in to looking at baby stuff. We started registering for some things, and it is so much fun. We have received some really cute outfits from our amazing friends, and it makes me so excited to think about him wearing them!!!! I am on an active search for baby bedding and having a hard time! Anyone have any suggestions?

Sweet Moment

Michael felt the baby move for the first time last night. I was lying in bed on my left side and baby boy was going crazy! I put my hand underneath me, and I felt him move inside of me and out. So, I grabbed Michael's hand and he felt him too :-) It was so neat. I felt like he was pushing off my left side and jumping back and forth. I can only imagine how that will feel as he grows, but last night it was so cool!

Busy, busy, busy.

Michael and I watched my nieces on Friday night so their mommy and daddy could have a nice date for their anniversary. They spent the night at our house, and we had lots of fun! Kylie makes me laugh- she can be quite the entertainer! I love spending time with them. They will be one of the hardest things about moving to Scottsdale.

All was well... until Maya decided to wake up at 5am. Michael was so sweet and got up with her, and tried to put her back to sleep. She just was not having that, and then Kylie woke up. So, I was obviously wide awake and went in to put Kylie back asleep. Michael watched Maya for an hour so I could then go back to sleep. I am going to have a hard time adjusting to less sleep when out little one arrives- I love me some sleep. Fortunately I have a husband who likes to get up before dawn. The girls really were a lot of fun though!

Saturday we spent the whole day out on the boat since the day turned out to be such a beautiful one! It was a lot of fun! Saturday night, we went to a surprise party for my old boss. We took Kylie with us since she is buddies with their little girl. The kids had so much fun running around and swimming- I felt like a parent this weekend... lots of hands on experience!

Sunday, we drove to church in the torrential down pour. The rain was crazy, but did not last long. In the afternoon, I went with my sister in law, Brooke, to the Carrollton city pool- was very cool! I was quite impressed with the place. They had this giant rain forest area for the kids. Good to know for later because it is right across from our neighborhood. That night we had John and Brooke over for some grilling.

Busy weekend. A good one! We love our family and friends and feel so incredible blessed! Here are some pics from our Friday night slumber party.

Our big dog, Bagby, with my brother in law's little dog. Bagby was such a good boy with the girls this weekend! I am so proud of him!

21 Weeks

"Your baby now weighs about three-quarters of a pound and is approximately 10 1/2 inches long. His eyebrows and eyelids are fully developed. And you can certainly feel him move. He's oblivious to your schedule, though, so don't be surprised if he starts working out just when you're settling down for the night."
