What is going on this week...
"At 4 1/2 inches long (head to bottom) and 3 1/2 ounces, your baby is about the size of an avocado. In the next three weeks, she'll go through a tremendous growth spurt, though, doubling her weight and adding inches to her length. Her lower limbs are much more developed now. Her head is more erect than it has been, and her eyes have moved toward the front of her head. Your baby's ears are close to their final position, too. Some of her more advanced body systems are working, including her circulatory system and urinary tract. Her heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day, circulating her total blood volume through her body many times. (By the end of your pregnancy, this will increase to about 190 quarts.) The patterning of her scalp has begun, though her hair isn't recognizable yet. Although closed, her eyes are moving (slowly), and she's even started growing toenails."

15 Weeks
What is going on this week...
"At around 4 inches long, crown to rump, your baby now weighs about 2 1/2 ounces. He's busy inhaling and exhaling amniotic fluid, which will help develop the air sacs in his lungs. His legs are growing longer than his arms now, and he can move all his joints and limbs. That means his hands are more functional, too. Sweat glands are appearing, and although his eyelids are fused shut, he can sense light. If you shine a flashlight at your tummy, he's likely to move away from the beam. There's not much for your baby to taste at this point, but his taste buds are beginning to form."
I am feeling great, except for a little sinus problem!

Kylie turned three!
Kylie Michelle Leona Winterburn... this child is my precious neice. She has a very special place in my heart, and words can't describe the love I have for her! She is my little doodle bug, my protege. It overwhelms me to think about how much I love her, and then how much I will love my very own children. Kylie turned three on April 21! We celebrated with a good ol' BBQ! Here are some pics.

One Crazy, Wonderful, Beautiful Year!
I look back at this last year and think, oh my wow! So much has changed! The changes are wonderful, but sometimes I feel like I blink and so much has happened and time has flown right by.
Last April, on Easter, we celebrated my niece, Kylie's, birthday where Michael met my parents for the first time. On Saturday, we celebrated her birthday again. She turned three! I just can't believe it! It really seems like it was not too long ago that she was crawling around. And... obviously so much has happened since Michael met my parents a little over a year ago.

In May of last year, I started a new nanny job with a wonderful family! I have loved getting to know them over the last year, and absolutely adore sweet Jenna! Since we are moving (still not sure when), the family had to start a search for a new nanny. They found one after several months of searching, and my last day was on Friday. It was bitter sweet. I am going to miss them dearly, but I am so excited about what our sweet Lord has planned for Michael and I in Scottsdale. Is it a compliment that I sent my boss to the ER on Friday with panic attacks because I was leaving??? Not so sure about that! They are a wonderful family and they have blessed and enriched my life this last year.

On July 3, Michael and I were engaged. (Okay, so I know this is long, but who doesn't like to share their story!) He asked me to go to Santa Fe, NM with him since I had a day off for the 4th of July. He said he had a meeting, but it would be a fun place to hang out. Little did I know what he had planned- nobody knew except for our families. He rented a convertible car and played it off like he got lucky- I was clueless but enjoyed cruisin in it. When we arrived to Santa Fe, we drove up to this fabulous hotel in the downtown Plaza- again he acted like he had no idea how nice it was going to be. Me- still clueless! The night we got there, we went out to dinner and then went up the mountain to watch the sunset, but it ended up being very cloudy and it started to rain. He had planned on proposing that night, but it did not feel right to him with the lack of visible sunset and the rain. He asked me to get up the next morning to watch the sunrise. He knew I was not a morning person, but I knew that he was and that he loved watching the sunrise. After some hesitation on my part, asking if we could wait until the next day to get up early, I agreed to get up. He knocked on my door about 5:30 a.m., and thankfully I was already half awake with a headache. We cruised in the convertible to a nearby park, and got out and hiked up a hill to a huge white iron cross. Michael had his video camera (to video the sunrise, of course :-)) and he set it up. Luckily I had sat down, so he could adjust it to where I was on camera. He came and sat next to me. We talked for a minute, and then he got in front of me... still clueless! He had a Bible and said he wanted to read to me. When he aked me to feel how soft the Bible was, I started thinking hmmmm... that was a little different. He read five passaged about love. By about the third, I stopped listening, as my mind was excitedly racing with is he really doing this! Tucked in the page of the last passage, was the ring. He got on one knee and asked me to grow old with him. I of course, said yes! The Bible was new, and he had The Kersey's printed on the inside. He also did not have a meeting after all and planned the whole trip for the proposal. We spent the rest of the day at a spa, having all kinds of pampering done. It was awesome!

The next few months were filled with a lot of wedding plans, showers, and Michael and I growing even deeper in our relationship. We were married on December 16, 2006 by one of our favorite people- Paul Matthies. Everything was more than I could have ever dreamed of. We have 980 pics to document the occasion! We spent our honeymoon in Mexico at a resort called Verana. It was amazing, beautiful, and very relaxing. We returned just in time for Christmas, where some of my family spent the night at my parent's house so we could get up early to watch Kylie do the Christmas present extravaganza.

About two weeks later, we became pregnant with our precious little one! And oh my, what change! If someone would have told me what my life would look like now a year ago, I would have laughed hysterically and told them they were crazy. But ya know, it all makes sense to me right now, and I would not want it any other way. Our God has brought so much change to our lives, but also in our hearts. He continues to stir us to be better, and we will stive to be raised up as Godly parents. We want to do better and be better than we are right now. Lord, please overwhelm and consume us!

Trimester 2! 14 Weeks
What is going on...
"Head to bottom, your baby's 3 1/2 inches long — about the length of a lemon — and weighs about 1 1/2 ounces. Her body's growing faster than her head, which now sits upon a more well-defined neck. By the end of this week, her arms will have lengthened and will be in proportion to the rest of her body. (Her legs still have some growing to do, though.) She's starting to develop an ultra-fine, downy covering of hair all over her body (called lanugo). Her liver starts secreting bile this week, a sign that it's already functioning properly, and her spleen starts contributing to the production of red blood cells. She's also producing and discharging urine into the amniotic fluid, a normal process that she'll keep up until birth. You still can't feel your baby's movements, but her hands and feet (which are now half an inch long) are more flexible and active. Thanks to brain impulses, her little facial muscles are getting a workout as she squints, frowns, and grimaces. She can grasp now, too, and she may be able to suck her thumb."
and the belly continues to grow (14 weeks)

13 Weeks
What is going on this week...
"Your belly may soon be big enough to announce to the world that you're expecting, but your baby is still tiny. In fact, he's only about 3 inches long crown to rump — roughly the size of a jumbo shrimp — and weighs just about an ounce. Despite the small proportions, there's a fully formed baby inside your womb now. Much more proportional than it was a few weeks ago, his head is now only about a third the size of his body. His tiny, unique fingerprints are already in place. His kidneys and urinary tract are functional, and he's starting to urinate out the amniotic fluid he's been swallowing. As you start your second trimester, most of your baby's critical development will be completed, and your odds of miscarriage will drop considerably."
I am almost to trimester 2! Yay!!!! We have a Dr.'s appt. tomorrow afternoon. I can't wait to hear the heart beat again :-) My tummy has grown even bigger, and people are starting to really notice my little bulge. It is so amazing and exciting! I am still having a couple of yuck periods during the week, but I am feeling so much better. So, I can't complain! I can't wait to feel the little flutter from the baby moving around! My heart is so joyful!

Dallas Blooms
On Tuesday, the little girl I take care of, Jenna, and I went to the Dallas Arboretum with our play date friends. We had a blast running around, petting the animals at the petting zoo, eating a packed lunch, and pretending to be butterflies! The tulips were so gorgeous- they are my favorite flower, such a happy flower. The grass was so green, and it was such a reminder of God's beauty around me. He painted that picture, and I was thankful and overwhelmed! Here are some pics from our day.

12 Weeks
What is going on this week...
"Your baby's hit the 2-inch mark (about the size of a lime) and weighs half an ounce. Her face is beginning to look more human. Her eyes, which started out on the sides of her head, have moved closer together on her face, and her ears are near their final positions on the sides of her head. Your baby's intestines, which have grown so rapidly that they protrude into the umbilical cord, will start to move into her abdominal cavity about now. Her kidneys are secreting urine into her bladder. Her nerve cells have been multiplying rapidly, and synapses (neurological pathways in the brain) are forming. Your baby may have acquired more reflexes by now, including sucking, and she'll even squirm if you prod your abdomen, though you still won't be able to feel her movement for several weeks."
Michael and I went out to my parents house yesterday for dinner. My bonus mama, Linda, is an OB nurse, and she has the equipment to hear the heart beat- a doppler. So, we got to hear the tiny little heart beat and the baby moving around again. It is so amazing!
I have been feeling good for the most part! Just very tired... it is hard to sleep at night when you have to get up to use the bathroom like 8 times a night :-) My tummy continues to grow, and I am looking forward to the time that I look pregnant instead of looking like I gained a few pounds :-)
